Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. It was here that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music on the internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music was circulating all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. The news was released on the 8th of December she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. She also appeared as a guest performer on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. She then released on November 13 two new singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. On February 20, 2019, a music video was released for the song. It already has over three million views on YouTube within its debut week. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
